Useful phrases in Khmer

Dear visitors.
Here I would like to show you some sentence that is useful for Khmer daily.
Ah yea "Khmer" also called Cambodian, is a spoken by most of people in Cambodia.

English is rapidly becoming the second language, especially in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Kompong Som. Older people born from 1950, particularly among the elite, may understand French.

Even though English or French are second language but if you could speak some basic Khmer
language would be appreciate especially at the country side.

 And now learn how to say them:

-Who  = no na ? nak na?
-Why  = het a vey?
-What is this ? = nis chea a vey?
-Does anyone speak English? = mean nak jes pheasa orng les tei?
-What does it mean in your language? ter jea pheasa robos nak mean ney tha mex?

***Greeting

-Hello  = chum reab sur, sur sdey.
-How are you? = ter nak sok sabay chea tei?
-I am fine. = k'nhum sok sabay.
-Good morning. = arun sur sdey.
-Good afternoon. = tivea sur sdey
-Good evening. = sayon sur sdey
-Good night. = rea trey sur sdey.
-Good bye.  = chum reab lea, lea sen hery.
-May I have your name, please? ter nak chh'mos a vey?
-My name is.......  = k'nhum chh'mos.......
-Yes. = bat (male), cha-s (female)
-No = tei
-Thank you. = or kun
-Excuse me, Sorry.  = sum tos
-Where are you from? = ter nak mork pi brotes na?
